Paresh Rawal has officially stepped away from Hera Pheri 3, ending months of speculation surrounding his involvement in the sequel to one of Bollywood’s most iconic comedy franchises. His decision to exit the project has stirred considerable buzz, especially after reports confirmed that the actor has returned the signing amount to the film’s producers, marking a formal end to his participation.

According to an industry report, Paresh Rawal refunded the Rs 11 lakh signing fee he initially received, along with 15 percent annual interest and an additional amount as compensation. “Paresh Rawal has returned the signing amount of Rs 11 lakhs with 15% p.a. interest and also a little more money for stepping away from the series,” a source revealed, indicating the seriousness of his departure.

The source also disclosed details of Paresh Rawal’s contract, which included an unusual payment structure. He was reportedly promised a total fee of Rs 15 crores, with the condition that the remaining Rs 14.89 crores would only be disbursed one month after the film’s release.

With shooting unlikely to commence until the next year and the release expected no earlier than late 2026 or even 2027, the extended delay proved unacceptable for the actor. “Paresh Rawal was paid Rs. 11 lakhs as a signing amount as per the term sheet. His total fees were locked at Rs. 15 crores. The term sheet mentioned that Paresh Rawal would receive the balance amount – Rs. 14.89 crores – only one month after the release of the film,” the insider elaborated.

Paresh Rawal’s withdrawal has reportedly led to legal friction with Akshay Kumar’s production company, Cape of Good Films, which is said to have filed a Rs 25 crore lawsuit against him. This adds a further layer of uncertainty to a project that has been long-awaited by fans.

So far, the only filming completed for Hera Pheri 3 has been a promotional shoot, allegedly done on the sets of Bhooth Bangla with that film’s crew. The absence of a complete cast and production delays have left the future of the movie hanging in the balance.

Paresh Rawal’s portrayal of Baburao Ganpatrao Apte in Hera Pheri (2000) and Phir Hera Pheri (2006) remains one of the most beloved performances in Indian cinema. His exit from the third installment has cast a shadow over the franchise’s return, leaving fans disappointed and unsure of what lies ahead for the iconic series.
