Winter vacation extended in UP: Schools to remain closed further in Noida

Cold weather has forced the Uttar Pradesh Basic Education Council (UPBEC) to close primary schools up to class 8 till January 14, 2024, and change their hours.

The Uttar Pradesh Basic Education Council (UPBEC) has declared an extended winter vacation because of the cold weather. All primary schools through class 8 will be closed until January 14. This ruling affects all schools, including council-run and aided/recognized ones. Rahul Pawar disclosed this decision after government communication.

Basic Shiksha Adhikari, Gautam Budh Nagar, announced school closures on X. Due to excessive cold and dense fog in the district, all boards’ schools in the district, from nursery to class 8, will be on winter vacation until January 14, 2024, according the District Magistrate’s instructions.

Noida schools closed in December and reopened January 1. On January 6, the district administration announced a shutdown until January 14 due to weather. Parents and students should contact schools for specifics. The government also moved classes 9–12 from 10 am to 3 pm.
