Yami Gautam Talks About The Doubts She Had Before Working In “Article 370”

Bollywood actress Yami Gautam made a striking appearance at the 55th International Film Festival of India (IFFI) in Goa for the screening of her film Article 370. This marked her first public appearance since becoming a mother. At the event, Yami shared her thoughts on the unconventional project and her intentional approach to choosing strong female roles.

Speaking about Article 370, Yami revealed that the film’s genre and style initially raised doubts among many, but she believed in its potential.

“This was not a very popular genre and came with a lot of doubts like, ‘Are you sure? Is this a film the audience will like? Will it connect?’ It doesn’t have songs; it’s intense and based on a documentary. But we were sure that with a good script, strong performances, and the right technical crew, it would work,” Yami said.

The film, produced by Aditya Dhar and Lokesh, reflects Yami’s penchant for associating with unique and impactful projects.

Yami Gautam also highlighted her deliberate decision to take on strong female characters across genres. “It’s a conscious decision. If you work consistently in this direction, the audience and industry start recognizing your versatility—be it in comedy, political thrillers, or drama,” she explained.

This approach has enabled Yami to carve out a distinct identity in the industry, with films that challenge traditional norms and offer compelling narratives.
