Finally the southern superstar Yash has started shooting in Mumbai for the magnum opus, Ramayana as he is playing the role of Ravana. The KGF star, known for his commanding screen presence, has joined Ranbir Kapoor and Sai Pallavi in Nitesh Tiwari’s ambitious project, which is set to bring the legendary epic to life on an unprecedented scale
With Ranbir and Sai Pallavi having already completed portions of their shoot, Yash, who is also co-producing the film, has now started working on his character. After arriving in Mumbai, he spent two days finalizing his costume before beginning his scenes on February 21. The current schedule focuses on high-intensity battle sequences, with key war scenes being filmed at Aksa Beach. Once this phase wraps up, the production will move to a studio in Dahisar for the next leg of shooting.
The battle sequences have been meticulously choreographed to highlight Ravana’s tactical brilliance, blending ground action with extensive green screen effects and VFX enhancements. Since this part of the story does not include the pivotal Ram-Ravana confrontation, Ranbir Kapoor is not involved in this particular schedule. However, several other significant cast members have joined Yash for these intense action sequences.
Directed by Nitesh Tiwari, Ramayana is being developed as a grand two-part spectacle. The first installment is set for a Diwali 2026 release, while the sequel will follow in Diwali 2027. Alongside Yash, Ranbir Kapoor, and Sai Pallavi, the film features an ensemble cast that includes Lara Dutta, Sunny Deol, and Indira Krishna in crucial roles. With its larger-than-life vision, stunning visual effects, and powerful storytelling, Ramayana is shaping up to be one of the most awaited cinematic events in Indian cinema.
