The Indian cricket team is in a strong position in the first test match against West Indies which is being played at the Windsor Park Dominica as the both the Indian openers Yashasvi Jaiswal and skipper Rohit Sharma played brilliant centurion knocks.
Batting first, the hosts managed to put only 150 runs on the scoreboard and in response, the Indian team put up a great show as Yashasvi and Rohit put up a partnership stand of 229 runs for the first wicket. While Rohit Sharma got dismissed at the score of 103, Yashasvi is still not out at the score of 143 and the 21 years old youngster wrote history by becoming the 17th Indian cricketer to score a century on the test debut. He is the third Indian opener to make a century on debut, the first two being Shikhar Dhawan and Prithvi Shaw but he is the first Indian opener to debut with a century overseas as both Dhawan and Shaw debuted in India.
Yashasvi Jaiswal is the fifth Indian batter to score a century on his debut overseas and he is the fourth youngest Indian cricketer to score a century on debut after Prithvi Shaw, Abbas Ali Baig and Gundappa Viswanath.
By the end of the day 2, India was 312/2 with Yashasvi Jaiswal and Virat Kohli (36 runs) on the crease.
