CJI Lalit and Justice Bela M Trivedi sent a notice to its registry to explain why the matter has been languishing for 1.5 years for listing despite being ready.
New Delhi: Chief Justice of India UU Lalit on Tuesday asked the Supreme Court registry to explain why a matter that had been ready for listing for a year and a half was not listed.
CJI Lalit and Justice Bela M Trivedi sent a notice to its registry to explain why the matter has been languishing for 1.5 years for listing despite being ready.
After learning that a case that was posted today was ready for listing one and a half years ago, the Supreme Court sent a notice to its own registration and requested the Registry provide its explanations as well as reasons for such a long delay in listing the subject.
“We issue notice to the Registry to file an explanation as to why the matter was not listed before the court for a year and a half despite its readiness,” the bench states in its order.
It further stated that the Registry should identify any similar proceedings that have been designated ready but not yet listed before the court.
The Supreme Court asked the Registry to explain why such a situation had arisen and what corrective measures had been or were being implemented.
“All specifics of such things must be provided, along with an explanation, and if any corrective actions have been taken since, those actions must be mentioned. Please provide your explanation by Thursday. The matter was scheduled for hearing on November 3 by the Supreme Court.
