World Kurash Championships

On Tuesday, India finished with five medals—one silver and four bronze—at the 13th World Kurash Championships.

In the competition that came to a finish on Tuesday, Snesha took home India’s lone silver medal, while Mohit, Kunal, Jyoti, and Annu each took home four bronze.

The term “kurash” is used to describe a variety of Central Asian folk wrestling techniques. The word “wrestling” is derived from the English word “wrestling” in various Turkic languages.

At the 2018 Asian Games in Indonesia, kurash was a medal-winning sport. Malaprabha Jadhav took home a bronze for India, and Pincky Balhara earned a silver.

Uzbekistan won the most medals at the 13th World Championship, which was held in Pune, with 7 gold, 4 silver, and 4 bronze. The Iranian national team came in second and won six gold, four silver, and four bronze medals before returning home.

In a competition in which 11 other nations also won medals, South Korean athletes finished third with 1 gold, 2 silver, and 2 bronze.
