In a recent development, the Indian Railways has announced that the occupancy status of trains, as per the Passenger Reservation Charts, will now be accessible to the public via the IRCTC website (www.irctc.co.in). A new feature has been introduced to assist potential train passengers in obtaining information regarding available berths after the chart has been prepared.

Users will have access to comprehensive information regarding available berths at both the train’s point of origin and intermediate stops. Potential customers have the option to utilise the provided information to book available berths online or through a TTE in accordance with established business regulations. The feature is accessible on both the web and mobile versions.

In a statement, Shri Piyush Goyal announced that the latest measure is aimed at enhancing transparency within the system and improving the overall travel experience for passengers. According to the source, the introduction of a new online platform for public viewing of train charts will bring an end to the practice of searching for a ticket collector in a moving train.

A cutting-edge feature has been introduced in the ticketing system that promises to revolutionize the way passengers travel. This dynamic system is designed to continuously upgrade itself as the train progresses towards its destination, providing real-time updates on berth availability. Passengers can now enjoy greater transparency and convenience, thanks to this innovative addition.

The main objective is to ensure that the reservation process is transparent and user-friendly for the public. According to an official, the major benefit is that passengers can view the availability of berths even after the second charts have been prepared. According to authorities, it has been announced that all Rajdhani and Shatabdi train tickets can now be booked up to 20 days after the release of the second charts, which are made available just 30 minutes prior to the scheduled departure of the train.

The website www.irctc.co.in will now feature a user-friendly interface that provides a graphical representation of train coaches and berth-wise accommodation status. The Indian Railways’ reserved trains boast a coach layout of 9 classes, which is displayed by the system. Impressively, the system has incorporated over 120 distinct coach layouts.

The newly added feature showcases the complete availability of vacant berths according to the ‘First Chart’ of the train, categorized by both class and coach. Four hours prior to the scheduled train departure, the ‘First Chart’ has been prepared. In the event that the ‘Second Chart’ is prepared, users will have the option to view information regarding available vacant berths at the time of the chart’s preparation.

A new chart, known as the ‘Second Chart’, is created approximately 30 minutes before the train’s departure time. This chart is designed to incorporate any updates to reservations or cancellations that have occurred after the initial ‘First Chart’ was created. As the train progresses towards its destination, both charts will be updated for every charting location.
