The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has recently announced the Indian squad for the remaining three test matches against England and while KL Rahul and Ravindra Jadeja have made a comeback in the team after missing the second test due to injuries, Shreyas Iyer has been dropped because of his poor form.
Well, there were some reports which suggested that Shreyas Iyer is having a back problem but the BCCI didn’t talk about any medical issue.
The former Aussie cricketer Ian Chappell has shed his opinion on the Indian team selection as he wrote in a column, “India is a strong side and they also have a good leader in Rohit Sharma. They will be greatly strengthened by Ravindra Jadeja’s and KL Rahul’s recovery from injury, but that Virat Kohli will not return for the rest of the series is a blow.”
He also talked about Shreyas Iyer getting dropped, “Hopefully, the selectors will now stop overestimating Shreyas Iyer’s batting ability and learn to value Kuldeep Yadav’s wicket-taking capability more.”
Do you agree with Ian Chappell that Shreyas Iyer is an overestimated batter?
