Charles Schwab Plans Technology Center in Hyderabad

Hyderabad’s Technology Development Center is being planned by Charles Schwab.
Hyderabad has been selected by global financial services leader Charles Schwab as the site for its first Technology Development Centre in India.

The decision was made after productive talks at Charles Schwab’s global headquarters in Dallas between senior Schwab executives, including Dennis Howard and Rama Bokka, and Telangana Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy and IT Minister D. Sridhar Babu.

The Chief Minister and the IT Minister promised to assist Schwab with all the procedures involved in setting up centres in Hyderabad, guaranteeing quick access to the talent required for a quick set-up.

The delegation travelled to Dallas following meetings with top executives from a variety of companies in New York, New Jersey, and Washington.

Chief Minister Revanth Reddy met Ajay Banga, the president of the World Bank, in Washington. Where they decided to draft a roadmap for collaboration across various sectors.

As per the CMO, potential areas of collaboration that are being identified through investigations and discussions encompass skill-building programs, urban revitalization and reimagining, Net Zero projects, citizen healthcare, diagnostics, and electronic records.

During the hour-long meeting, It was decided to form a cross-functional team to quickly conceptualize workable projects in each of the areas. The topics included sustainability, health, skills development, urban renewal, Net Zero initiatives, citizen healthcare, diagnostics, and electronic records.

An agreement on innovation and skill development was earlier signed in New York by the Telangana government and Corning Incorporated, a leading global company in materials science.

Corning and Telangana agreed to work together on developing and executing programs aimed at providing the local labour force with advanced manufacturing and chemical engineering skills.

Additionally, Corning will increase its collaboration and involvement with Dr Reddy in the Flow Chemistry Technology (FCT) hub, a joint venture of the Telangana government.

Corning presented its state-of-the-art Corning Advanced-Flow Reactors (AFR) technology to the Chief Minister during their meeting.

The company is eager to work with Telangana to advance and apply flow chemistry technology, enhancing the state’s standing as a centre of innovation for the chemical and pharmaceutical industries.
