WhatsApp has introduced new features calling options for both desktop and mobile. The news comes from the Facebook-owned instant messaging program WhatsApp, which seeks to make connecting with loved ones and businesses more straightforward than ever. According to the firm, ‘Calling on WhatsApp’ is becoming increasingly popular worldwide, with over 2 billion calls made on the platform daily.
Before the holiday season, WhatsApp announced four new calling features across desktop and mobile, including additions to both WhatsApp voice calls, and WhatsApp video calls:
- Select participants in WhatsApp Group calls: When starting a call from a group chat, you can now select particular participants, allowing you to call only the people you want without disrupting the others. This implies that when you call a WhatsApp Group, you may select who you wish to join the call. It can come in handy when preparing surprise parties or gifts.
- New WhatsApp video call effects: Choose from ten effects that make your video calls even more entertaining, such as adding puppy ears, transporting you underwater, or handing you a microphone for karaoke.
- Improved calling on WhatsApp desktop: When you click the calls tab in the WhatsApp desktop app, you’ll see everything you need to initiate a call, establish a call link, or dial a number directly.
- Improved video calls: Calls are now more dependable, whether from a PC or a mobile device, and you can experience higher-resolution video with a crisper picture on both 1:1 and WhatsApp group chats.
