Abhishek Bachchan and Aishwarya Rai’s wedding in 2007 was one of Bollywood’s most talked-about events, with fans eagerly following every detail of their relationship. Despite the media scrutiny, much of their personal moments remained private. However, in a candid interview shortly after their marriage, Amitabh Bachchan shared the heartwarming story of how Abhishek proposed to Aishwarya.
Amitabh revealed that Abhishek proposed to Aishwarya after the premiere of their film Guru in New York. He recalled, “Abhishek called me and said he had just proposed to her. I told him, ‘Come on home.’ When I asked Aishwarya if she was happy, she said yes. I took them both home and told Aishwarya, ‘This is your home. Humko kya lena dena hai aur kuch se?’ (How does anything else matter?).”
Abhishek and Aishwarya’s love story began as friends while working together on films like Dhai Akshar Prem Ke (2000) and Kuch Naa Kaho (2003). Their friendship turned into romance during the filming of Umrao Jaan in 2005-2006. The couple got married in a grand ceremony on April 20, 2007, and later welcomed their daughter Aaradhya in 2011.
In recent years, Aishwarya has been seen at public events either solo or with her daughter, leading to rumors of a possible divorce between her and Abhishek. However, neither Abhishek nor Aishwarya have commented on these speculations, and the Bachchan family has remained silent on the matter.
