Recently hosting the popular TV show KBC, Amitabh Bachchan was heard sharing an inspiring story about his granddaughter Navya Naveli Nanda and the initiatives she works for. While lauding a young woman contestant on the hot seat working for females who are suffering from domestic violence or have been thrown out of their homes, Big B took an opportunity to inform the audience and praised her granddaughter for taking up the mantle of social entrepreneurship, focusing on empowering underprivileged women through her initiatives.
The legendary actor Big B said,” The reason I am quoting this story from such a platform is to inspire and emphasize the need for citizens to support such causes actively rather than relying solely on government interventions.” Amitabh Bachchan expressed immense pride in his granddaughter’s work. He urged viewers to not only admire Navya’s work but to actively participate in supporting such initiatives. “Each of us has a role to play in ensuring that women, especially those from disadvantaged backgrounds, have the opportunities they deserve.” he remarked.
Navya’s daughter of Sweta Nanda Bachchan and Nikhil Nanda (MD of Escort Group) belongs to an affluent and iconic family. However, leaving aside her strong financial background, the young philanthropic woman wanted to do something do on her earnings. Her journey of empowerment began in 2021 with the launch of Project Naveli, which she co-founded with Samyak Chakrabarty, the Founder of Workverse. Project Naveli aims to create an equitable and just world for women, particularly those from underprivileged backgrounds. The initiative has already trained over 350 girls, helping them conquer their fears and enter the workforce with confidence. She also works closely with the CSR team of her fathers’ organisation-Escorts Kubota to ensure skill development and relief for farmers.
Beyond Project Naveli, Navya runs platforms like Nimaya, Nyaari, and Entreprenaari, each playing a pivotal role in her broader mission.
These platforms are designed to provide resources, opportunities for women to excel in various fields, end-to-end support, one-on-one mentoring, masterclasses with CEOs, CXOs, founders to placement support. She is also a Gender ally with United Nations women. Her attention areas include equity in education, healthcare, and legal rights.
Navya’s story is a powerful reminder that if we want to bring a real change in society then work for the grassroots level people who need the right support to overcome adversity and achieve their dreams. Her grandfather’s endorsement on national television is sure to inspire many to take up the cause and work towards a better future for all women.
