Arjun Meghwal replaces Kiren Rijiju in Indian cabinet reshuffling  

Arjun Ram Meghwal has been appointed as the new Minister for Law and Justice, while Kiren Rijiju has been relocated to the Ministry of Earth Sciences. Kiren Rijiju expresses gratitude to Prime Minister, Chief Justice, and Law officers for their support in facilitating justice and legal services.

Indian cabinet reshuffle: In a press communique released on May 18, the Rashtrapati Bhavan announced that Arjun Ram Meghwal, previously the Minister of State for Parliamentary Affairs, has been appointed as the new Minister for Law and Justice.

Additionally, Kiren Rijiju has been relocated to the Ministry of Earth Sciences. As per the communique, the President of India has reassigned the portfolios on the advice of the Prime Minister.  

In a recent development, it has been announced that the portfolio of the Ministry of Earth Sciences will now be assigned to Shri Kiren Rijiju. In a recent communique, it was announced that Shri Arjun Ram Meghwal, Minister of State, will be taking on the independent charge as Minister of State in the Ministry of Law and Justice. This will be in addition to his current portfolios, replacing Shri Kiren Rijiju.  

The recent announcement of Mr. Meghwal’s promotion has caused a stir, while Mr. Rijiju, the Lok Sabha representative from Arunachal Pradesh, has been taken aback by the sudden news of his new portfolio, which is being viewed as a downgrade.

A screenshot of the Twitter profile belonging to Kiren Rijiju has been obtained. In a recent update, Mr. Rijiju has announced his new role as the Minister of Law & Justice. He took to Twitter to express his gratitude towards the Prime Minister, Shri Narendra Modi, for the opportunity to serve in his previous role. Mr. Rijiju stated that it was a privilege and an honour to have worked under the guidance of the Honable PM.

The individual expressed gratitude towards Honourable Chief Justice of India DY Chandrachud, as well as all the Judges of the Supreme Court, Chief Justices and Judges of High Courts, Lower Judiciary, and the entire Law officers for their immense support in facilitating the delivery of ease of Justice and provision of legal services for citizens.

The newly appointed minister of Earth Sciences expressed his enthusiasm for carrying out the vision of the Honorable Prime Minister, Shri Narendra Modi, in his ministry. He stated that he will approach his duties with the same passion and dedication that he has demonstrated as a loyal member of the Bharatiya Janata Party.

Union Minister Kiren Rijiju has been vocal in his criticism of the current collegium system for appointing judges to the higher judiciary. He has also recently sparked controversy by alleging that some retired Supreme Court judges were involved in lobbying for their post-retirement positions.
