Babar Azam Beats Virat Kohli, Breaks This Record

Star Pakistani batter Babar Azam achieved a significant milestone during the third T20I against Australia at the Bellerive Oval in Hobart on November 18. Despite his 41-run effort from 28 balls, Pakistan fell short, losing the match by 7 wickets, which completed a 3-0 series whitewash by the hosts.

Babar’s innings may not have been enough to secure a win for his team, but it helped him surpass former Indian captain Virat Kohli in the list of all-time leading run-scorers in T20Is.

Babar Azam now has 4,192 T20I runs in 126 matches, surpassing Kohli’s 4,188 runs in 125 matches. He is now second only to Rohit Sharma, India’s ODI and Test captain, who holds the record with 4,231 runs in 159 matches.

Babar’s 41 runs were the only highlight for Pakistan, as the visitors managed just 117 runs in 18.1 overs. Australia, led by stand-in captain Josh Inglis, comfortably chased the target in just 11.2 overs, thanks to Marcus Stoinis’s explosive unbeaten 61 off 27 balls.

Well played, Babar Azam!
