CBI books Sameer Wankhede for seeking Rs 25 crore bribe in Aryan Khan drug case

On October 2, 2021, Aryan Khan was reportedly apprehended in connection with a drug bust case aboard the Cordelia cruise ship.

In a recent development, the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) conducted searches at the premises of Sameer Wankhede, a former officer of the Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB). This move comes after the CBI filed a First Information Report (FIR) against Wankhede and four others for allegedly demanding a bribe of Rs 25 crore to not implicate Aryan Khan, son of Bollywood actor Shah Rukh Khan, in the drugs-on-cruise case. According to officials, the searches were carried out on Friday.

In the latest development of the drugs-on-cruise case, the Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB) has cleared Aryan Khan of all charges, as per their charge-sheet. However, a SIT established by the anti-drugs agency has alleged that the investigation led by Wankhede had certain shortcomings.

According to sources, a series of searches were conducted across 29 locations in Mumbai, Delhi, Ranchi, and Kanpur.
