A man traveling with his family of six from Shirdi to Mumbai on the Vande Bharat Express has filed a complaint with the Indian Railway Catering and Tourism Corporation (IRCTC) after encountering multiple instances of food contamination during the journey. He claimed to have found cockroaches in his meal and was also served spoiled curd.
Rikki Jeswani told a news portal, “The incident happened to my sister, who is a vegetarian. She had nearly finished her dal when she noticed a cockroach in it. We immediately called the TC, as well as the junior and senior catering managers, who confirmed the presence of the cockroach in the dal.”
Jeswani further said, “When we went to the pantry, we saw that the food was being prepared next to the dustbin, with cockroaches crawling around.”
He also claimed that he was served curd that was 4-5 days old, excessively sour, and likely spoiled. Moreover, his request for a refund was also denied.
Jeswani made an official complaint to IRCTC in which he talked about finding both a live and a dead cockroach in the meal. In addition, he mentioned that the curd was sour and not just he and his family but the whole C5 coach was facing the same problem. Furthermore, IRCTC Managers Narendra Mishra and Alok Singh confirmed the incident.
The viral video shows Jewasni’s son Aryan saying, “I ordered another packet of curd, and have opened four of them…. I couldn’t consume the curd.”
He further said, “A one-year-old was sitting in front of me, I was having dal when my aunt told me that a cockroach was found inside the dal. The same food is consumed by my 80-year-old grandfather. Can he stomach the contaminated food?”
