The singer-actor Diljit Dosanjh is currently enjoying the success of his two movies – Crew and Amar Singh Chamkila and he also made headlines some time back because of the news of his marriage which he has kept as a secret.
Recently, Diljit appeared in a podcast in which he revealed that he wanted to run away from home at the age of 8 yrs, he said, “I tried to run away from my home at the age of 8. There was a girl in my school, and because of her, I tried to run away from my house. When I was in school, my seniors were randomly asking all of us, ‘Tereko kaun ladki pasand hai?’ I pointed towards this girl and said, ‘I like her.’ So my senior was like, ‘Go confess it to her and then you will get married to her only.’ I was like okay. I went to the girl and told her that you and I will get married. She went and complained to my teacher and my teacher was like ‘Go get your parents.’ For me, it was the end of the world.”
He further said, “So, the 8-year-old me opened the fridge, picked two bananas, some other fruits, took my cycle and just left. I just went say five minutes away from my house when one of the villagers just yelled at me, ‘Where are you going, go back to your home.’ Earlier, in villages, it was never like nobody apart from parents could yell at you. It was very common for the villagers to yell and shout at kids in the village, they were all like a family, and they sometimes even slapped. So, this man made me return home when I tried to leave. Then, the next day, I lied about a stomach ache and skipped school for two days. Then my teacher also let me go.”
Diljit will also be seen in The Tonight Show with Jimmy Fallon and he will also perform over there.
