Former Indian cricketer Dinesh Karthik has praised KL Rahul for his strong performances in the ongoing Border-Gavaskar Trophy between India and Australia. The 32-year-old batter from Karnataka has opened for India in three matches so far, scoring 26, 77, 37, 7, 84, and an unbeaten 4. With a total of 235 runs, Rahul is currently India’s top scorer in this series.
Speaking in a video shared by Cricbuzz, Dinesh Karthik expressed confidence in Rahul’s abilities and urged the Indian team management to support him. He emphasized that Rahul has shown the qualities India needs in an opener and hoped the team would continue backing him, even if he faces challenges in the future. Karthik highlighted that Rahul’s current contributions should be valued, as they demonstrate his capability in challenging conditions.
Dinesh Karthik also noted that Test cricketers are often judged by their performances in away matches, and Rahul has proven his worth during this series. He believes Rahul’s consistency makes him one of the best players India has had in recent times.
Rahul’s return to form came after being dropped from the team earlier in 2024 following a poor showing against New Zealand. He got another opportunity to open in Perth due to Rohit Sharma’s absence and seized it with a crucial half-century in the second innings, helping India secure a commanding 295-run victory.
