The Indian cricketer Shreyas Iyer is currently enjoying his success at the IPL 2024 as Kolkata Knight Riders won their third title under his captaincy.
Though Shreyas Iyer is not a part of the Indian team at the moment, there was a time when he was groomed as the next skipper after Virat Kohli. However, he was snubbed from the annual retention contract list along with Ishan Kishan for not playing in the Ranji Trophy for his state team. While Shreyas Iyer cited that he was having back issues at that time, the medical experts of NCA stated that he was absolutely fine. Later on, Shreyas Iyer played for Mumbai in the Ranji Trophy.
While speaking on a YouTube channel, Shreyas Iyer said that lack of communication led to some decisions being taken against him. He said, “I had a tremendous World Cup, and I wanted to take a break after that, work on my body and build some strength around certain areas. Due to a lack of communication, there were some decisions that didn’t go in my favour.”
He further said, “But at the end of the day, the bat is always going to be in my hand, and it’s on me how to perform and win trophies. I decided once I won the Ranji Trophy and IPL, that would be an apt answer for whatever happened in the past. Thankfully, everything fell into the right place, and I’m grateful for where I am right now. Also, we have a lot more trophies to win in the future.”
Well, it is good that things have fallen in place for him.
