Throughout the month of Ramadan, the Muslim community managed both their personal and professional life in order to honor the holy month. This month, Muslims seek forgiveness from the Creator and any person we have hurt. Not only is it the month when we fast nonstop from sunrise to sunset, but it’s also a time when we take care of our spirits via deeds of kindness, giving, prayer, meditation, and global brotherhood. It was also the moment to mend damaged relationships and kick unhealthy habits.
As Ramadan draws to a finish, the Muslim community worldwide is getting ready to observe the Shawwal crescent moon, which will mark the day of Eid-ul-Fitr 2024 and usher in a new month according to the Islamic lunar calendar.
Eid-ul-Fitr is a festival of peace and joy, a time for social gatherings and celebration. The crescent moon sighting determines the day of Eid-ul-Fitr. Since the Islamic calendar bases Eid-ul-Fitr on the sighting of the crescent moon, it occurs roughly 10–11 days early each year based on the sighting of the Shawwal moon. The lunar calendar is different from the Gregorian calendar since it is based on the moon’s orbit around Earth rather than the sun’s.
The new crescent moon was expected to be seen on Monday evening, April 8, marking the end of Ramadan and the beginning of Shawwal month. The crescent moon was supposed to appear on April 8, 2024, in Saudi Arabia, the United Arab Emirates, the United Kingdom, Egypt, Turkey, Oman, Qatar, Kuwait, Bahrain, Iran, and other Middle Eastern and Western nations in order to confirm the celebration of Eid-ul-Fitr on Tuesday, April 9.
However, after breaking the Ramadan fast at maghrib or evening payers on April 8, 2024, Muslims in Saudi Arabia, the United Arab Emirates, Oman, Qatar, Kuwait, Bahrain, Egypt, Turkey, Iran, and other Middle Eastern countries were unable to see the Shawwal crescent moon. As a result, on Tuesday, April 9, chand raat will be observed, and the festival of Eid-ul-Fitr will be celebrated on April 10, 2024. This means that Muslims will observe a 30-day fast this Ramadan instead of 29 days.
The Indian Eid date:
The crescent moon sighting on April 9, 2024, in the evening, will determine whether or not Eid-ul-Fitr celebrations are confirmed. In the event that the moon appears on this day, April 10, 2024 will be the date of Eid. On the other hand, April 11, 2024 will be Eid-ul-Fitr if the moon is still not seen.
