In 2024, Esha Deol, the daughter of Bollywood icons Hema Malini and Dharmendra, parted ways with her husband Bharat Takhtani. Since the separation, the actress has embraced a new chapter in her life—one centered on co-parenting and maintaining stability for their two daughters, Radhya and Miraya. Speaking in a recent interview, Esha offered a glimpse into how she and Bharat have redefined their relationship to continue functioning as a united front when it comes to parenting.
Discussing her experience in an interview, Esha was asked whether being a single mother feels more rewarding or more challenging. She was quick to clarify that she doesn’t identify with the label of a “single mom,” as she doesn’t approach her life or relationships with that mindset. “I don’t like to think of myself as a single mother because I don’t behave like one nor do I let the other person behave that way with me,” she explained.
For Esha Deol, parenting after separation is less about defining roles and more about evolving dynamics. She emphasized that life sometimes necessitates changes in roles when certain relationships no longer work in the traditional sense. However, what matters most, especially when children are involved, is how maturely both individuals handle the transition. “It’s just that in life, sometimes, due to certain things, roles change. And if it doesn’t work out in a certain equation of what two people were at one point, you must take it upon you, especially when you have children, the two mature individuals must take it upon them to work out in another dynamic but keep the unit together for the sake of the children. And that’s exactly what Bharat and I do,” she said.
Esha’s candid reflections reveal a conscious commitment to prioritize emotional stability and unity for her daughters, even after the end of her marriage. Rather than focusing on what has changed, she and Bharat have chosen to concentrate on what remains—their shared dedication to their children and to creating a healthy, cooperative family environment.
