Playing for Chennai Super Kings at the iconic Eden Gardens in Kolkata, the legendary wicketkeeper-batter marked yet another milestone in his extraordinary career by becoming the first wicketkeeper in IPL history to record 200 fielding dismissals.
The 43-year-old reached this landmark in the match against Kolkata Knight Riders on Wednesday evening. Dhoni’s sharp reflexes were on full display as he was involved in the dismissals of both Sunil Narine and Angkrish Raghuvanshi. He stumped Narine with trademark precision and later caught a fine edge off Raghuvanshi, showcasing once again why he remains one of the sharpest behind the stumps, even at this stage of his career.
This achievement places MS Dhoni well ahead of his peers. Former India wicketkeeper Dinesh Karthik, who sits second on the all-time list, has 174 dismissals to his name, followed by Wriddhiman Saha with 113. Among the active players, Rishabh Pant trails with 100 dismissals, still a significant distance from Dhoni’s towering figure.
