A photo has emerged showing the 2.5-inch section of the knife that broke off from its handle and got lodged in Saif Ali Khan’s spine during the attack on the night between Wednesday and Thursday. The force of the assault caused the knife to snap, embedding a part of it deep into his back.
Lilavati Hospital’s COO Nitin Otmani and anesthesiologist Nisha Gandhi shared with ABP News that the knife came within just 2 millimeters of hitting Saif Ali Khan’s central nervous system. They also revealed that when Saif arrived at the hospital, he was accompanied by his son Taimur and the child’s nanny. Despite his injuries, Saif expressed concern for his children while speaking with the doctor before being administered anesthesia.
After the surgery, the knife was handed over to the Mumbai Police. Using CCTV footage from the Satguru Sharan Apartments, where Saif Ali Khan and Kareena Kapoor Khan reside, the Bandra Police arrested a suspect on Friday. However, it was later determined that the detained man resembled the real attacker but was not the actual perpetrator.
Earlier, three staff members from the actor’s household were taken in for questioning. The police suspect that the assailant escaped Bandra using a local train after the attack. However, no arrests have been made as of now.
Mumbai Police is currently questioning a person named Shahid, who was detained from Falkland Road in Girgaon. Shahid has a history of multiple burglary cases, with four to five such incidents registered against him. However, it is still unclear whether he is the same individual responsible for attacking Saif Ali Khan.
