A horrific fire that broke out in the early hours of Friday morning in Mumbai’s Goregaon suburbs claimed seven lives and injured 44 more. The status of five of the injured people is critical. The Jai Bhawani Building, a seven-story building along Mahatma Gandhi Road in Goregaon West, is the impacted building. It is close to Azad Maidan.
The most recent updates indicate that 51 people were successfully rescued and promptly transported to the Hinduhridaysamrat Balasaheb Thackeray Medical College and Dr. R.N. Cooper Municipal General Hospital. Some other injured individuals were transferred to private hospitals in Mumbai for medical care.
The fire was initially found sometime before three in the morning.
Due to swift action from Mumbai civic, police, and fire brigade personnel, effective firefighting and rescue operations were carried out at the scene. The primary targets of the fire, according to members of the Mumbai Municipal Corporation’s (BMC) Disaster Management Unit, were ground floor shops, scrap materials, and parked cars, which contributed to people getting trapped on various floors.
The exact cause of the fire remains under investigation. Additionally, four vehicles were damaged as a result of the fire.
In the most recent reports, it’s mentioned that 46 people were successfully rescued and transported to the Hinduhridaysamrat Balasaheb Thackeray Medical College and Dr. R.N. Cooper Municipal General Hospital. Some others received medical attention in private hospitals within Mumbai.
The fire has since been extinguished, and efforts to cool down the affected area are currently in progress.
