The search for the head coach of India’s cricket team is on and it seems that the former Indian cricketer Gautam Gambhir is the only and the best option among the available options in front of the BCCI for this job.
The KKR mentor Gautam Gambhir who played an important role in KKR’s IPL 2024 win has refrained from speaking on the matter of taking the job of India’s head coach but recently during an event in Abu Dhabi when he was asked a question by a student in this regard, he said, “I have not answered this question, although a lot of people have asked me. But I have to answer you now. I would love to coach the Indian team. There is no bigger honour than coaching your national team. You are representing 140 crore Indians and those across the globe as well.”
A source close to the BCCI has told a cricket portal that the Indian board may not conduct interviews and presentations because there are not many quality candidates for the job. The source further said, “We might have a situation where there are no interviews and presentations. There just aren’t many quality candidates to choose from. Most potential overseas candidates have already ruled themselves out and many more are happy to be in control of their year. The job of coaching Team India would need at least 9 months on the road.”
Let’s see how things will proceed.
