Harbhajan Singh Slams Selectors For Not Picking Chahal In T20I Team

The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has announced the Indian cricket team for the South Africa tour and the Indian spinner Yuzvendra Chahal has made a comeback in the team but what has left many surprised is the fact that he has been selected in the ODI team and not in the T20I team. Yuzi is one of the top performers in the shortest format of the game, he has performed pretty well in T20Is at the international level and in the IPL as well.

Yuzi was selected neither in the Indian squad for the ODI World Cup 2023 nor in the team which is playing the 5-match T20I series against Australia but he went back to domestic cricket and performed well because of which he made a comeback.

The former Indian cricketer Harbhajan Singh is not happy with Yuzi not getting selected in the T20 squad, he said this while speaking on his YouTube channel, “There is no Yuzvendra Chahal in the T20 format. You kept him in ODIs but not T20Is. They just gave him a lollypop to suck on. We won’t take in the format where you do well but will take for other formats. It’s beyond my understanding.”

Bhajji also talked about Cheteshwar Pujara and Ajinkya Rahane’s omission from the test squad. He said, “I think the road is tough for a comeback. They have served Indian cricket, and are renowned cricketers. The board should have had a chat with them. They should have been informed why they are not picked and what is a possible path for them in their careers.”

He further said, “South Africa tour is not easy. It’s tough for batters. There you won’t have Cheteshwar Pujara and Ajinkya Rahane. Youth are indeed getting opportunities. It’s a good thing. But I don’t think that selectors had a chat with Rahane, Pujara, or Umesh Yadav because whenever Yadav has played in Tests, he has performed.”
