Shah Rukh Khan, Madhuri Dixit and Aishwarya Rai Bachchan starrer Devdas (2002) which was directed by Sanjay Leela Bhansali is one of the most beautiful movies of the Indian Cinema of all times. The tragic love story is based on the 1917 novel of the same name which was authored by the renowned Indian writer Sarat Chandra Chattopadhyay.
The film was not just loved for acting performances, direction and music but it was also loved because of the gorgeous dresses which were worn by Aishwarya Rai Bachchan and Madhuri Dixit.
Recently, designers Abu Jani and Sandeep Khosla took us back to the old times when they posted the photo of Madhuri Dixit in a mirror lehenga which she wore in the movie.
This lehenga weighed 10 kilos as real mirrors were embedded in this lehenga with Zardozi embroidery and it took highly trained and skilled artists more than 2 months to make this lehenga.
While Abu Jani & Sandeep Khosla were awarded with National Award for Costume Design in 2003 for their beautiful work in the movie Devdas, in 2015, this Mirror Lehenga got featured at ‘The Fabric of India’ exhibit which was held at the Victoria & Albert Museum in London.
