In the Badminton Asia Mixed Team Championships, PV Sindhu and HS Prannoy will represent India

A sizable Indian team will compete at the Badminton Asia Mixed Team Championships, which will be held in Dubai from February 14–19, under the leadership of world no. 8 HS Prannoy and gold medalist from the Commonwealth Games PV Sindhu. The Badminton Association of India (BAI) had once more used the technique of choosing the best players directly and holding trials for the remaining members of the squad to choose a team that is capable of contending for a medal in the coveted continental competition.

Due to the COVID epidemic, the event’s last edition in 2021 had to be postponed, thus the Indian contingent would be eager to demonstrate their progress since 2019.

Lakshya Sen would be the second man on the team competing in men’s singles, and Aakarshi Kashyap would support Sindhu in women’s singles.

The men’s doubles burden would fall on the French Open champions Satwiksairaj Rankireddy and Chirag Shetty, with Krishna Prasad G and Vishnuvardhan Goud joining the team as the second pair.

“We have assembled a very good team that, on their best day, can defeat any top power. Last year, our men’s team shown during the Thomas Cup what happens when they find their groove, and I am optimistic that this squad can also place highly “said Sanjay Mishra, BAI’s secretary.

The main women’s doubles team will be made up of All England semifinalist Gayatri Gopichand and Treesa Jolly, with Ishaan Bhatnagar and Tanisha Castro likely to be selected for the mixed doubles.
