Inspiring story of mindset coach Jaikishaan Sharma who once tried to end his own life

Jaikishaan Sharma’s pleasant family life in Ahmedabad was shattered by life’s ups and downs, and so he attempted suicide. His inspiring path to become a successful mindset coach and founding DreamChair Club. 1000

Jaikishaan Sharma, 38, from Ahmedabad feels life is unpredictable. This sales expert never imagined becoming a mindset coach, worldwide speaker, and creator of the DreamChair Club, which helps individuals overcome mental challenges.

After graduating in Delhi in 2006, he returned home and began his battle with fate.

Jaikishaan’s father wanted him to study in Australia, a goal he had abandoned.

The mindset coach claims he committed to study international business in Australia for two years in 2007. He learned his father had died after crossing the world.

“I couldn’t imagine continuing my degree so far from home. I changed my admission and returned for the funeral. After completing the legalities, I didn’t want to return to Australia and leave my mother and sister. “My mother said it was dad’s dream and two years would fly by,” he recalls.

‘Just when I thought things was improving, I was dealt a couple more blows’

“It paid well enough to pay back the student loans and send money back to India,” recalls Jaikishaan, who worked for an energy and gas retailer after his master’s degree. He married in 2010 and acquired his dream home in 2014.

“Life was great. We were thrilled to relocate to Melbourne with my pregnant wife. “Our baby girl was born that year, but I wasn’t prepared for what life had in store for me next.”

The corporation outsourced my position on October 11, 2015. “They made me redundant,” he adds.

Jaikishaan worried how to get home with this news. He had a wife, daughter, and mortgage. He called a few pals, pleading for a job to get him through the months.

One of them invited him to the office the next day, and Jaikishaan went with optimism. He just remembers the vehicle journey.

When he woke up, he saw his wife holding his newborn girl and screaming, and then he lost all sensation below his abdomen.

Doctors stated my spine was injured in the accident and needed surgery.. My life crumbled around me. I lost my job yesterday and was told I would never walk today! What happened?

In difficult circumstances, Jaikishaan remembered his mother’s words: “Jo bhi hota hai, acche ke lie hota hai (Whatever happens, happens for a good reason)”. He was sent home for physiotherapy after a 10-hour operation and eight months of recovery.

He says, “My wife refused to tell me who was paying the mortgage or how we were coping. Those months were filled with sorrow because of what I went through and worry because I kept thinking the bank authorities would come on the door ordering us to leave.

He says that months later, his mother’s Indian mortgage payments were discovered.

“Being Asian, we have an ego that men should provide, so I was mortified to hear this. I tried suicide the next morning because I felt helpless for my family. Despite failing, I continued. He tried again a few days later.

After these efforts, Jaikishaan was prescribed anxiety and depression medication, which he found difficult. After stopping the medicine in November 2016, he awoke.
‘I determined not to live by default’

Jaikishaan was watching his daughter play in the drawing room in his wheelchair when she turned around and smiled.

My life changed then. I told myself I could either take things as they are, go on, and remain sick, or prove the doctors incorrect and transform my five percent walking probability into 500 percent. He says, “I decided not to live by design and default.”

Jaikishaan started improving. He started finding inspiration in tiny things and places. Motivational speakers and internet videos helped him overcome obstacles. He shared how others have conquered mental health issues including anxiety and determination. All of these had a mindset.

This term was new to me. I started studying how mentality influences everything. After seven months of mindfulness, reading good literature, practicing the law of attraction, and loving life, he felt better.

Jaikishaan realized this would lead to larger things.

He says, “I moved a toe one morning in December 2019. I yelled and my wife came in, also happy. We immediately booked an appointment with the neurosurgeon who said this was extraordinary and inexplainable and to keep doing whatever I was doing.”
Jaikishaan started walking again in February 2020. The wheelchair, once constraining, was now healing.

“DreamChair Club was my journey from wheelchair to dream chair,” he says.

His recovery took months. He started various work-from-home initiatives. He repaid $75,000 the next year.

Jaikishaan started mindset coaching in 2021 after realizing he wanted to help others with similar struggles.

He trains individuals worldwide and conducts presentations in many nations and continents. He discusses “mindfulness, positivity, how to take life into your control, how to not get boggled by life and situations, and how to deal well with the cards that life hands you”.

Jaikishaan feels relieved as he narrates his life and how he reached this wonderful place. “Do not let your temporary emotions dictate your future,” he warns.
