Veteran actor Shivaji Satam best known for his iconic portrayal of ACP Pradyuman in the long-running television series CID, celebrates his 75th birthday today, April 21, 2025. Born in Devgad, Maharashtra, Satam worked as a cashier at the Central Bank of India for 23 years before venturing into acting.
His passion for theatre led him to the world of acting, where he made his debut with the television series Rishte-Naate in 1980. He first donned the role of a police officer in the Marathi show Ek Shunya Shunya in 1988, a precursor to his later fame as ACP Pradyuman in CID, which began in 1998.
Satam’s portrayal of ACP Pradyuman became a cultural phenomenon, with catchphrases like “Daya, darwaza tod do” and “Kuch to gadbad hai” becoming part of popular lexicon. His commitment to the role contributed to CID’s success, making it one of India’s longest-running TV shows.
