An investigation is being conducted into a tragic incident, where a fellow classmate allegedly shot and killed a third-year Arts student at Shiv Nadar University in Greater Noida. According to police reports, the assailant then turned the gun on himself and also died.
According to police reports, the two students involved in the incident were approximately 21 years old and were acquainted with each other. An individual by the name of Anuj Singh, a third-year sociology (BA) student and resident of Amroha district, has been accused of a crime. The victim in this case has been identified as Sneha Chaurasia, a native of Kanpur.
According to official sources, the cause of the murder-suicide is still under investigation.
An incident reportedly took place at roughly 1:30 p.m. at the Dadri police station area of Greater Noida’s Shiv Nadar University, according to a spokesperson for the Greater Noida police department.
According to a statement from the police, the individuals in question convened outside the university dining hall on Thursday afternoon. Witnesses reported observing them engaged in conversation and embracing.
According to sources, following the meeting, Singh allegedly used a pistol to shoot a female student before fleeing to his room in the boys’ hostel on the university campus. It was reported that he subsequently took his own life. The cause of the incident remains unknown, but according to a report by Hindustan Times, it occurred when Singh’s female friend declined a gift from him.
According to an investigator who viewed the CCTV footage, it appears that the male student had brought a gift for the woman, but she can be seen refusing it. In a shocking incident, a male student reportedly shot a female student in the abdomen after she refused to accept a parcel from him.
Eyewitnesses claim that the victim was seen declining the package before the perpetrator resorted to violence. In a harrowing turn of events, the victim valiantly attempted to resist her attacker’s gunfire. However, her efforts were tragically in vain as the assailant fired another round, causing her to crumple to the ground. According to the investigator who spoke to Hindustan Times, the man was observed sprinting towards the boys’ hostel.
According to a statement made by Deputy Commissioner of Police (Greater Noida) Saad Miya Khan to PTI, a woman was transported to a private hospital where medical professionals pronounced her deceased upon arrival. According to sources, the two students were previously close friends, but have recently experienced some conflicts.
The family members of the pair were notified and arrived in Greater Noida later in the day. Meanwhile, law enforcement officials reported that they had cordoned off the locations of the incidents for the purpose of forensic analysis.
The Shiv Nadar Institution of Eminence expressed deep sorrow and distress over the regrettable loss of lives.
