Is high cholesterol the only reason for heart attack? Check out all the risk factors

A heart attack can mean the end of your life. There are several risk factors you should know about to prevent a heart attack.

Some heart disease risk factors and symptoms in women might differ from those in males. Here are some warning signs and risk factors for heart disease in women.

The following list contains several risk factors you should know about to prevent a heart attack:

1. High Cholesterol

The primary risk factor for heart disease is high blood pressure. It happens when the pressure of the blood flowing in your arteries and other blood vessels is too high. Your brain, kidneys, heart, and other important organs may all be impacted by this. You may regulate your blood pressure with healthy lifestyle modifications or medication if advised by your doctor.

2. Excessive alcohol consumption

Alcohol consumption above three drinks in one sitting might momentarily increase blood pressure. Over time, this high blood pressure can wear down your heart muscle, increasing your risk of heart disease, heart attacks, and stroke.

3. A sedentary lifestyle

Even if you don’t have any other risk factors, a sedentary lifestyle marked by a lack of physical exercise might increase your chance of developing heart disease. Inactivity increases your chance of developing other heart disease-related conditions including obesity, high blood pressure, high cholesterol, and type 2 diabetes.

4. A poor diet

A poor diet full of salt, fat, and sugar can raise your body’s cholesterol levels. Your artery walls, particularly those in your heart, might accumulate extra cholesterol. This can cause your arteries to stiffen and narrow, lessen the blood supply to your heart, and raise your chance of having a heart attack.

5. Smoking

Smoking is extremely detrimental to heart health. By accelerating the buildup of plaque in your blood arteries, it raises your chance of getting heart disease. Your chance of having a heart attack rises as a result of the decreased blood supply to your heart.
