The Bengaluru Police on Thursday formally accused the Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) in the First Information Report (FIR) concerning the IPL 2025 victory celebration stampede. This tragic incident resulted in the deaths of 11 individuals and left 33 injured.
On Friday, an activist approached the police, advocating for the inclusion of former team captain Virat Kohli in the FIR. As of now, neither Kohli nor any other RCB player has been directly named in the complaint.
Reports indicate that social activist HM Venkatesh sent a letter to the Cubbon Park Police Station with this request. While the police didn’t immediately act on it, they did provide Venkatesh with an acknowledgment, assuring him that his request would be reviewed and informing him about the existing FIR in the case.
Previously, a news channel reported that two additional entities have been named in the FIR: DNA Entertainment, the event management company, is listed as the second accused, and a senior official from the Karnataka State Cricket Association (KSCA) has been identified as accused number three.
It is a really tough time for the victims and their families.
