Indian pacer Jasprit Bumrah dominated on Day 2 of the third Test against Australia at The Gabba, Brisbane, on Sunday, December 15. The 31-year-old fast bowler delivered a masterclass in pace bowling, claiming a five-wicket haul for 72 runs in 25 overs. This marked Bumrah’s 12th five-wicket haul in Test cricket, surpassing Zaheer Khan and Ishant Sharma, who each have 11 fifers in the format.
Jasprit Bumrah initiated his tally by dismissing Usman Khawaja (21), caught behind by Rishabh Pant during the morning session. In his following over, he sent Nathan McSweeney (9) back to the pavilion. Bumrah’s third wicket came with the prized dismissal of Steve Smith, who scored a centurion knock of 101. In a sensational over, Bumrah claimed the wickets of Mitchell Marsh (5) and Travis Head (152).
Jasprit Bumrah now holds 12 five-wicket hauls in Test cricket. Among Indian pacers, only the legendary Kapil Dev, with 23 fifers, stands ahead of Bumrah in this elite category.
With his exceptional consistency and ability to deliver in high-pressure moments, Bumrah continues to solidify his place as one of India’s greatest fast bowlers in the Test arena.
