Josh Hazlewood has expressed confidence in rejoining the Australian squad for the third Border-Gavaskar Trophy test against India. The pace bowler successfully completed two high-intensity bowling sessions at full pace at the Adelaide Oval on Monday, signaling progress in his recovery from a side strain.
Hazlewood missed the previous pink-ball Test in Adelaide but remains optimistic about his fitness ahead of the Brisbane Test, scheduled to start on Saturday.
The bowler emphasized the importance of how his body responds in the 24 hours following the training sessions.
· “I think it’ll be how I pull up in the 24 hours following it really,” Hazlewood stated during a press conference.
· The focus lies on maintaining high intensity during two separate spells in a single day, a critical test for his readiness.
· “Cooling down pretty much fully and then going again in the same day, and the intensity has got to be right up there as well,” he explained.
Hazlewood also acknowledged that ticking all the recovery and performance checkboxes will determine his availability for the Brisbane game. His primary concern is ensuring he can perform at full strength and replicate match-day conditions during training.
The Australian team will be eager to have the experienced bowler back in their arsenal as they prepare to take on India in what promises to be a pivotal match in the series.
