Rather of firing army officers, National Conference president Farooq Abdullah wants an investigation into the Poonch civilian killings. He criticized the BJP’s statements about Jammu and Kashmir’s terrorism end and questioned whether India should talk to Pakistan. If India and Pakistan don’t talk, anything can happen, Abdullah said.
National Conference president Farooq Abdullah said Tuesday that firing army officials will not solve the Poonch civilian deaths matter and urged for a probe into why innocent people were “tortured” to death.
After the Army questioned three civilians after a terrorist ambush on two Army vehicles in Poonch last Thursday, they were found dead.
Eight peaceful persons were hauled away and three were brutally beaten and rubbed with chilli powder. Three of them died from the torture. Five more are hospitalized. Abdullah told Srinagar media that one victim’s brother, a BSF veteran of 24 years, claims he got his brother’s murder in return for his devotion to the nation.
He continued, “The Army Chief took Northern Commander from here to Dehradun academy, but that won’t address the matter. It should be investigated why?”
He asked “which India are we living in” if non-terrorists are slain. Can we live in peace in Mahatma Gandhi’s India? Hatred has spread so widely that Hindus and Muslims consider each other enemy.”

The former chief minister dismissed BJP assertions about Jammu and Kashmir terrorism ending.
In a Chennai speech four years ago, the Home Minister blamed Article 370 for Jammu and Kashmir terrorism. Development is underway in JK as terrorism ends.
In a Parliament speech four years later, he denied saying that. This shows their deception. Terrorism is rising. Trained terrorists are entering undetected. He stated innocent individuals are targeted.
Abdullah cited former Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee’s famous saying that “we can change friends but we cannot change neighbours” when asked if India should talk to Pakistan.
By living in friendship with neighbors, we can both prosper, but by living in animosity, we cannot progress quickly. Modiji has declared war is no longer an option and disputes must be settled via negotiation. That discussion where?”
He said, “Imran Khan aside. Pakistan’s next PM, Nawaz Sharief, has been shouting that they’re ready for discussions. Why are we silent? I regret that people are bombarded daily if we don’t discuss. Anything can happen. He continued, “May Allah forgive us.”

After a terrorist ambush on two Army trucks in Poonch last Thursday, the Army found three civilians dead after interviewing them. Abdullah demanded an investigation into why innocent people were “tortured” to death. He also disputed the BJP’s claims that terrorism in Jammu and Kashmir is declining, saying innocent people are being attacked. He questioned whether India should talk to Pakistan, citing former Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee’s statement that “we can change friends but we cannot change neighbours.” Since Pakistan is bombarded daily, he asked why it is not ready for negotiations.
