Sunrisers Hyderabad has named Aiden Markram as their new captain for the IPL 2023 season. The squad made the announcement on social media.
Sunrisers Hyderabad, a former champion, has named their skipper for the IPL 2023 season. This time around, Aiden Markram will lead the team. Prior to this, three players were regarded as possible captaincy candidates.
Formerly, Aiden Markram was the only one in the race, along with Mayank Agarwal and Bhuvneshwar Kumar, but South Africa’s premier player Aiden Markram triumphed. The Sunrisers Hyderabad squad has traditionally relied on foreign leaders, and it is the foreign skipper who has won the franchise’s lone IPL triumph. Aiden Markram’s claim is seen to have been very strong when his side won the South African T20 League SA20.
Aiden Markram has won two titles as captain so far. He rose to prominence only after captaining South Africa to the Under-19 World Cup victory. In terms of IPL statistics, he has played 20 IPL matches thus far. In which he has 527 runs scored. His average is over 40, while his strike rate in the IPL is over 134.
Aden Markram was purchased by SRH in the 2022 auction. He has played 31 T20 Internationals for South Africa so far. The good news about Aiden Markram is that he can do miracles not just in batting but also in bowling. He has one IPL wicket and seven T20 International wickets to his name.
He previously played in the IPL with the Punjab Kings, therefore this is his second team in the league. It will be interesting to see how Aiden Markram leads the team that the franchise owners have put together and how far he can take his side in the 2018 IPL.
