Mohammed Siraj Opens Up On Emotional Exit From RCB, Credits Virat Kohli For Career Growth

Mohammed Siraj’s transition from Royal Challengers Bengaluru to Gujarat Titans has been an emotional one, marking the end of a six-year journey with the franchise that played a pivotal role in his career.

The star pacer, who became RCB’s third-highest wicket-taker, admitted that parting ways with the team and its talisman, Virat Kohli, was not easy, especially considering the immense support he received from the former captain during his struggles in 2018 and 2019.

Siraj acknowledged Kohli’s unwavering faith in him, recalling how the batting legend stood by his side when he faced challenges in the IPL. Those years of backing proved instrumental in his growth, as his performances steadily improved, cementing his place as a key bowler for both RCB and India. Leaving the team that shaped him has been an emotional experience, and with an upcoming clash against his former franchise on April 2, Siraj is preparing for what will undoubtedly be a special encounter.

During his tenure with RCB, Siraj played 87 matches, claiming 83 wickets at an average of 31.45. His standout season came two years ago when he picked up 19 wickets in 14 games, boasting an impressive economy rate of 7.5. Now, as he gears up for a new chapter with Gujarat Titans, he remains optimistic about the future, highlighting the camaraderie within his new team’s bowling unit. Training alongside his fellow pacers in Gujarat has been a refreshing experience, and he looks forward to executing their plans together in the upcoming season.
