Nayanthara Faces More Legal Woes As Chandramukhi Makers Demand Rs. 5 Crore For Clips

Nayanthara: Beyond The Fairytale, a documentary exploring the life and cinematic journey of actress Nayanthara, premiered on Netflix in November last year. Nearly two months after its release, the documentary has once again made headlines following reports of a legal controversy involving the makers of the 2005 Tamil film Chandramukhi. Allegations surfaced claiming that scenes from Chandramukhi were included in the documentary without permission, with reports suggesting the filmmakers had sued Nayanthara, demanding Rs 5 crore in damages.

However, these claims have been refuted by the makers of Chandramukhi. According to a report in a leading publication, they clarified that no such lawsuit had been filed and confirmed that they had, in fact, granted permission for the footage used in the documentary. The controversy initially gained traction after actor Chitra Lakshman mentioned it on his YouTube channel, stating that the makers were displeased with the use of certain clips.

This is not the first time Nayanthara has faced legal issues related to the documentary. Actor-producer Dhanush had previously sent a legal notice demanding Rs 10 crore from the actress for allegedly using a three-second behind-the-scenes clip from Naanum Rowdy Dhaan, a film he had produced. On November 16, Nayanthara responded with an open letter criticizing Dhanush for refusing to grant permission despite repeated requests.

The documentary, directed by Nayanthara’s husband Vignesh Shivan, holds significant personal value for the actress as it marked the beginning of their relationship during the making of Naanum Rowdy Dhaan. Despite the controversies, the documentary continues to receive attention for its candid portrayal of the actress’s life and career.
