Netflix is developing a series based on the December 24, 1999 hijack of the Indian Airlines flight, with Anubhav Sinha onboard to serve as creator and director. Starring with Vijay Varma, Patralekhaa, Pankaj Kapur, Naseeruddin Shah, Arvind Swamy, Dia Mirza, Kumud Mishra, Manoj Pahwa, Amrita Puri, and Anupam Tripathi is the television program IC814: The Kandhar Hijack.
Following the 2022 series Teerandaaz, Patralekhaa is back on OTT with the online series. The series’ central premise, according to its creators, is “the hijacking of Indian Airlines flight IC 814 on December 24, 1999, while it was traveling from Kathmandu to New Delhi.” They brought it to Kandahar. Officers back home attempted to find a way to get the crew and passengers back to safety during the seven-day hijack.
2014 saw Patralekhaa make her feature film debut in Hansal Mehta’s City Lights. She played Rakhi, a small-town wife assisting her husband in overcoming the difficulties of city life, in this moving drama. Patralekhaa received significant praise and multiple award nominations for her depiction, which was praised for its sincerity and emotional depth.
Audiences and critics praised her for her ability to embrace the subtleties of her parts with passion and complexity, which cemented her reputation as an actor to watch. From her role in Forbidden Love to her portrayal of a fiercely independent woman in Nanu Ki Jaanu, she bravely embraced a variety of characters, each with their own set of complexities and obstacles. She will soon be featured in Wild Wild Punjab, a Luv Ranjan film that promises a quick pacing and an intriguing plot, in addition to IC814: The Kandahar Hijack.
“When I started doing research, almost everyone remembered a few things about the hijack, and what all happened during the process,” the director of IC814: The Kandahar Hijack stated on Thursday, I came to understand that it’s a complicated tale with a lot going on throughout those seven days that not many people are aware of.
