Noted Social worker and Successful Dhaba owner Sonu Sethi of Sethi Foods was recently felicitated with the prestigious ‘The Inspiring Leader award 2023’ by Former Indian Cricketer & Rajya Sabha MP Harbhajan Singh. Mr Sethi was honoured for his outstanding contribution to social service in Punjab at a gala ceremony held at the Holiday Inn Hotel, Mumbai, on Sept 2, 2023. The Philanthropist is the founder-owner of Sethi Foods Ltd and the renowned food outlet ‘Sethi Dhaba’ on the Zirakpur-Chandigarh Highway.
The much-awaited event organized by Times Applaud celebrated the best personalities who have meaningfully shaped society through their works and careers. Some famous names among the celebrities’ awardees were legendary actor, writer, and producer Shri Manoj Kumar, prominent director and producer Mr Pahlaj Nihalani with Lifetime Achiever Awards, Veteran Actor Anjan Srivastava, Rakhi Sawant, Sherlyn Chopra, Comedian Sunil Pal & Rajiv Nigam, TV Actors Adnan Khan, Jay Soni, Tannaz Iran, Pooja Gor, Ragini Khanna, to name a few. Around 50-plus individuals from different walks of life were also awarded. Sonu Sethi was among this esteemed list honoured on the starry night.

Sonu Sethi has an unwavering dedication to helping others. During the COVID-19 crisis, when people of his region, especially those living in and around Derabassi, Zirakpur area in Mohali, faced unprecedented challenges, Sonu Sethi emerged as a saviour. He provided free ambulance services to his community. Sonu Sethi and his team transported over a thousand patients to hospitals, ensuring they received the best care possible.
Sonu Sethi also took on the grim task of handling unclaimed dead bodies. He conducted the last rites with utmost respect and empathy for thousands of souls who had no one else to turn to.
He has been instrumental in helping divyang (physically challenged) individuals find the best care and support they need. He guides them to the best orphanages and home care living centres, ensuring they receive proper food, medication, and maintenance.
Sonu Sethi is also a true Patriot. He actively participates in various social campaigns that benefit society. For example, his unique approach involves having live music performances on trucks while planting trees, bringing together the love for music and the environment. Then he championed several other social causes, from the “Beti Bachao” campaign, “Nasha Mukt Bharat Abhiyaan” to “Har Ghar Tiranga” campaign, and the “Jagruk Voter” campaign. He promotes awareness among his fellow citizens.
Sonu Sethi’s has a deep-seated passion for music. He is not just a singer; he’s a devoted admirer of the legendary Singer Gurdas Mann. Sethi Saheb’s commitment to preserving and promoting Punjabi folk music is commendable, and he continues to be a guiding light to many upcoming stars.
