Allu Arjun’s Pushpa 2: The Rule, one of the most anticipated films, hit theaters on December 5 and has been making waves ever since. The movie has received rave reviews and is dominating the box office. However, fans recently grew worried when news surfaced about the film being pulled from North Indian theaters. The issue reportedly arose because Varun Dhawan’s upcoming movie Baby John is set to release soon.
Distributors of Pushpa 2 in North India, AA Films, asked theater owners not to cut the film’s screenings due to Baby John’s release. They insisted on written guarantees from exhibitors to maintain the current number of screens for Pushpa 2 after December 25, when Baby John debuts. According to a report by Bollywood Hungama, AA Films’ Anil Thadani warned that if this condition wasn’t met, the release order (RO) required for screening Pushpa 2 over the weekend would not be issued, potentially halting its shows.
This demand upset theater owners, and PVR INOX even threatened to stop showing Pushpa 2 in North India. However, a meeting between distributors and exhibitors on Friday night aimed to resolve the issue. For now, bookings for Pushpa 2 remain open until December 22, but it’s uncertain if the film will continue screening after that date.
Pushpa 2: The Rule has become a massive hit, setting records in the Hindi market with ₹600 crore earned in just two weeks. Globally, the film has crossed ₹1,500 crore, with Mythri Movie Makers reporting a total collection of ₹1,508 crore so far.
