Following India’s 9-wicket defeat against Australia in the third Test match of the Border-Gavaskar Trophy, the World Test Championship (WTC) Final qualification has changed drastically.
With Australia securing their spot in the final, India will have to wait for the series to finish to determine their ultimate destiny. Going into the fourth Test, which is scheduled to start on 9th March, India must secure a 3-1 victory over Australia to book their spot in the WTC Final.
If the fourth Test ends in a draw, then the focus shifts to New Zealand, where Sri Lanka will have to win 2-0 in their series against the Kiwis in order to have any chance of qualifying for the WTC Final.
The same scenario applies if India loses the fourth Test. Therefore, Sri Lanka will have to win 2-0 over New Zealand to have any chance of reaching the final of WTC Final.
