Actor R. Madhavan has voiced his profound grief following a tragic stampede outside Bengaluru’s Chinnaswamy Stadium, an incident that tragically claimed at least 11 lives and left 50 injured. Madhavan conveyed his sorrow via Instagram stories, sharing the official statement released by Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) on social media.
The statement from RCB read: “RCB mourns the tragic loss of lives and extend our heartfelt condolences to the affected families. Immediately upon being made aware of the situation, we promptly amended our program, and followed, the guidance and advice of the local administration. We urge all our supporters to please stay safe.”
Accompanying the statement, the actor added his own heartfelt message: “This is so heartbreaking. Heartfelt condolences to the bereaved families. Please be responsible and safe and do not respond to rumors without checking with the authorities.”
The stampede unfolded as a massive gathering of fans assembled to greet the Royal Challengers Bengaluru team, celebrating their historic victory over Punjab Kings in the IPL 2025 final, which marked their first trophy in the league’s 18-year history.
The Karnataka government confirmed on June 4 that at least 11 individuals died and over 30 sustained injuries in the crush near Chinnaswamy Stadium on Wednesday, as an immense crowd congregated for the RCB’s inaugural IPL trophy celebration. In response to the tragedy, the government has announced a compensation of Rs 10 lakh for the families of those who died and has also ordered a magisterial probe into the incident.
Om Shanti!
