Rakesh Roshan Opens Up On The Times When He Was Shot After The Release Of KNPH

The release of ‘Kaho Naa Pyaar Hai’ marked a joyous period for the Roshan family, as Rakesh Roshan successfully introduced his son, Hrithik Roshan, to Bollywood. The film’s massive success catapulted Hrithik into superstardom. However, this celebratory phase was short-lived as Rakesh Roshan was shot in a shocking incident, leaving the family deeply shaken.

In the newly released docu-series ‘The Roshans,’ Rakesh Roshan opened up about the traumatic event. Fighting back tears, he recalled how the overwhelming success of the film dominated headlines, with news constantly highlighting its box office collections. He admitted feeling emotionally overwhelmed by both the highs and lows surrounding the incident.

Pinkie Roshan, Rakesh’s wife, also reflected on the challenging time in the documentary, emphasizing the difficulty of balancing such contrasting emotions. Their daughter, Sunaina, expressed her disbelief at the extremes they faced, with Hrithik’s overnight stardom juxtaposed against their father’s shooting. Rajesh Roshan described Rakesh’s resilience, sharing how he was bleeding yet managed to go to the police station and demand justice.

In 2000, just a week after the release of ‘Kaho Naa Pyaar Hai,’ Rakesh Roshan was shot by assailants in broad daylight in Mumbai. Despite being hit by two bullets, he managed to drive himself to the hospital. The attack was suspected to be linked to the underworld. It was a period of stark contrast for the Roshan family, balancing Hrithik’s meteoric rise with the trauma of Rakesh’s life-threatening experience.
