Reece Topley Looks to RCB Overseas Batsmen to Strengthen Virat Kohli in IPL 2024

Before the team’s match against MI on April 11, RCB’s Reece Topley stated that he expects the foreign batsmen to improve their appalling performance and assist the team’s top run scorer, Virat Kohli.

For Bengaluru, Kohli has been the shining star throughout a season that has been forgettable for Faf du Plessis, Glenn Maxwell, and Cameron Green. After amassing 730 runs from 14 games the previous season, Du Plessis is only up to 109 from 5 games so far in this campaign.

Maxwell, who has only scored 32 runs in 5 games, has also had trouble making an impression with the bat. The big-money addition from MI, Cameron Green, has been deployed at No. 3 and No. 5 since he hasn’t been able to settle into a regular slot in the batting order. The Australian all-rounder’s performances have suffered as a result; he has only scored 68 runs thus far. With 316 runs this season, Kohli leads the Orange Cap standings, and all of this has been happening. Topley anticipates that the foreign hitters will quickly recover their form.

There is still hope to reach the IPL 2024 finals: Topley

The manager stated that the season is still early and the hitters have plenty of time to turn things around at the news conference prior to MI vs. RCB. According to Topley, RCB’s initial objective for the season was to reach the finals, and they still have a chance to achieve it.

At the Wednesday pre-game news conference, Topley stated, “You can take away the fact that it is the overseas batters (only) and you can probably say, Virat has had quite a load in the run-scoring department.”

“Looking at everyone’s performances and saying they haven’t been up to scratch, that’s all elements of the game, and obviously we’ve played five games so far, I don’t believe anyone needs to be an expert.

The competition is still in its early stages, which makes it fascinating. There’s still a lot to be gained, and the good news is that we have plenty of time to improve things and demonstrate our superiority.”

“To make it to the finals is the aim at the beginning of the season. We’re working hard to make it possible so that there is still time to achieve that, Topley stated. RCB has lost their last three games and are presently 9th in the standings.
