Right-wing organization Akhil Bharat Hindu Mahasabha has approached an Agra court against the annual Urs at Taj Mahal. The celebration of three-day ‘Urs’ is due to take place this month.
Right wing organisation Akhil Bharat Hindu Mahasabha has submitted a petition to a court in Agra seeking a prohibitory injunction against the observation of the Taj Mahal ‘Urs’.
The right wing organisation has also challenged free entry inside the Taj Mahal for ‘Urs’.
The court scheduled a hearing for March 4 after accepting the petition. The three-day ‘Urs’ will be celebrated between February 6–8 this year. It was during this time that Shah Jahan, who built the Taj Mahal at Agra on the Yamuna in 1653, died.
Anil Kumar Tiwari, petitioner’s attorney, stated, “ABHM’s divisional head Meena Diwakar and district president Saurabh Sharma filed a plea in Agra’s civil court Room No. 4 on Friday.
“They have sought for a permanent prohibitory injunction against the committee celebrating the ‘Urs.'”
