Rinku Singh gained widespread recognition during the 2023 Indian Premier League season, becoming a household name with his remarkable performances for the Kolkata Knight Riders. The left-handed batsman led the team in runs for the season, with one of his most memorable moments coming against the Gujarat Titans in Ahmedabad, where he hit five consecutive sixes to secure an unlikely victory.
Following his stellar IPL season, Rinku made his debut for India in white-ball cricket during the Ireland series in August. Since then, he has played in two ODIs and 23 T20Is. At 26, Rinku remains a key player for Kolkata Knight Riders and is likely to be retained by the franchise ahead of the IPL 2025 mega auction. However, if KKR were to release him, Rinku has expressed a strong desire to join Virat Kohli’s Royal Challengers Bangalore, citing his admiration for the team and its star player.
“RCB, because Virat Kohli is there,” Rinku told Sports Tak.
Rinku shares a close bond with Virat Kohli, and during the last season, he asked Kohli for another bat after the one he previously received from him broke. Although Kohli was initially disappointed to hear about the broken bat, he eventually agreed and gifted Rinku a new one.
We don’t think KKR will release Rinku Singh, what do you say?
