Known for its unapoloetically blunt takes on the game, Iceland Cricket’s official social media account once again made waves with a post that ignited both amusement and outrage among fans. On Monday, amid a rainy day in Reykjavík, the handle shared a tongue-in-cheek lineup based on what they described as the most underwhelming performances in IPL 2025. Labeling it the “frauds and scammers team,” the post quickly went viral, prompting a wave of reactions across platforms.

The controversial list featured several high-profile names, including CSK’s Rahul Tripathi and Rachin Ravindra as openers, with Ishan Kishan and Rishabh Pant—who was also named captain and wicketkeeper—completing the top-order. The middle-order was no less attention-grabbing, with Venkatesh Iyer, Glenn Maxwell, and Liam Livingstone making the cut, followed by Deepak Hooda as the designated finisher.

For the bowling unit, the post included Ravichandran Ashwin as the lone spinner, alongside pacers Matheesha Pathirana and Mohammed Shami. Delhi Capitals’ Mukesh Kumar was named as the impact player, rounding off the lineup.

The post, shared on X (formerly Twitter), read: “On a rain day in Reyjavík, we give you our IPL 2025 frauds and scammers team: R Tripathi, R Ravindra, I Kishan, R Pant (c & wk), V Iyer, G Maxwell, L Livingstone, D Hooda, R Ashwin, M Pathirana, M Shami; No impact player: M Kumar.”

Though clearly intended in jest, the post struck a nerve with many fans and cricket followers who questioned the fairness of publicly branding professional players as “frauds.” Still, in typical Iceland Cricket fashion, the tweet embraced satire over subtlety, continuing the account’s streak of provocative cricket commentary.
